Thank you for the Betrayal. By Lisa V

Thank you for the betrayal—
For teaching me to see anew.
In shards of trust, I found reflection;
Through broken glass, my soul broke through.

Generations whisper in my veins,
A legacy of habits, thoughts, and chains.
Fists clenched tight against the tide,
While society hums:
“Work hard. Stay loyal. Keep the peace.
Be small, stay quiet—don’t be a beast.”

But blessings rise in motion’s flame,
Fear its shadow, purpose its name.
We meet our truth in the darkest hours,
When the soul dares bloom like hidden flowers.

They promised:
“Your life will change with the right man,
The perfect job, the grander plan.”
But they lied.
Life begins when you choose your own hand.

Purpose? A trick—a golden snare,
Goals that glitter but leave you bare.
This breath, this moment, is enough to claim.
Our presence alone ignites the flame.

When life breaks you,
It softly calls:
“You’re ready now. Rise from the fall.
Choose yourself and stand once more,
For this is what your pain was for.”

We cling to comfort,
To the lie of ease,
To identities shaped by those we appease.
Yet truth waits,
A patient guide,
For the day we cast the rules aside.

And just be.
